Tyson Fury remains adamant that he won his recent bout against Oleksandr Usyk, despite suffering his first professional defeat. The heavyweight clash, which ended in a split decision in favor of Usyk, has set the stage for a highly anticipated rematch on December 21 in Saudi Arabia.
Reflecting on the fight, Fury stated, “I’ve watched the fight back lots of times. I still think I won and did enough. Usyk knows he didn’t beat me.” Despite being knocked down and surviving a standing eight count in the ninth round, Fury insisted the match was “a lot easier than I thought it would be.”
Fury acknowledged his showboating and overconfidence might have contributed to his defeat.
“My problem was probably having too much fun. It was like I was in there with a local amateur boxer, just messing around,” he admitted.
He also pointed out that he was in control for most of the fight, a belief shared by one of the judges who scored in his favor.
The ‘Gypsy King’ expressed readiness to reclaim his title, saying, “Get yourself well, Usyk—I hear he’s got a broken jaw and eye socket—and I’ll see you in December for a Christmas extravaganza in Saudi Arabia.”
Recently, Fury was seen in an unfortunate incident where he was escorted from a bar in Morecambe after a night of heavy drinking. He assured his fans, “I got p***** up about two weeks ago, fell over on my face. Didn’t do any damage though, still good looking.”
Despite the setback, Fury is back in training, focusing on regaining his title in the upcoming rematch. “I’m ready to win back my title,” he declared.
Tyson Fury was speaking to his brand FUROCITY, which is set to relaunch its energy drink and protein range.
