Chirag Shetty Criticizes Maharashtra Government’s Felicitation of Cricketers Overlooked Achievements in Badminton

Chirag Shetty, the reigning World no. 1 in BWF men’s doubles, voiced disappointment with the Maharashtra government’s recent felicitation of T20 World Cup-winning cricketers.

While acknowledging the achievements of players like Rohit Sharma and others, Shetty emphasized the unequal treatment across sports.

He highlighted his own accomplishment with the Indian badminton team’s historic Thomas Cup victory in 2022, stressing its significance akin to a World Cup win.

Shetty, the sole Maharashtra player in the victorious badminton team, expressed his hope for equal recognition of all sports by the government.
