Olympics 2024: Support Team Nigeria’s Athletes in Paris

Team Nigeria is shining bright at the 2024 Olympic Games, taking part in athletics, wrestling, cycling, and basketball. These athletes are competing in various events and making Nigeria proud with their performances. Their dedication and hard work are evident, inspiring fans and the nation.

The Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh, urged support for Nigerian athletes in the ongoing Olympics in Paris. Through a heartfelt message on his X account, Enoh expressed pride in the athletes’ efforts and achievements.

“Our athletes are giving their best and making us proud,” he noted. The D’Tigress basketball team showcased remarkable talent and resilience, facing the world’s top-ranked team and putting on a strong performance in their quarterfinal match, finishing with a score of 74-88.

This achievement marks them as the first African team to reach such a stage, elevating their rank on the power table. Their journey has been nothing short of spectacular.

Another standout performer is Ese Ukpeseraye, the sole African cyclist among 30 competitors at the Olympics. Uchenna Ogazi made history by reaching the finals of the men’s 400m race after 36 years, and Favour Ofili demonstrated exceptional skill and determination.

Enoh’s rallying cry emphasizes the spirit of Nigerian sportsmanship, urging athletes to continue showcasing their talents and tenacity. “We take pride in each athlete representing Nigeria,” Enoh stated. “You carry the aspirations and ambitions of the nation, and we stand firmly beside you as you strive for greatness. Let the world witness the fortitude and resolve of Nigerians.”

Despite facing setbacks, Team Nigeria remains optimistic and determined. The nation’s athletes will participate in exciting events across various sports, including a thrilling matchup where Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, will face the USA in the quarterfinals.

Samuel Ogazi aims for a medal in the men’s 400m final, while Oluwatobiloba Amusan will compete in the women’s 100m hurdles.

These athletes exemplify the resilience and determination that define Nigeria’s sporting spirit. Their dedication and skill inspire the nation, and fans eagerly anticipate more success stories as they compete on the global stage.
