Nasarawa United’s head coach, Kabiru Dogo, has attributed his team’s 3-2 defeat to Heartland to “bad luck.” Despite leading for most of the match, the Solid Miners were edged out by Heartland after two late goals. The game took place at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on Sunday, December 2, 2024.
Nasarawa United seemed to be on the brink of securing their first away win of the season when Heartland made a stunning comeback. With just four minutes remaining, Suraj Lawal and Christian Molokwu scored back-to-back goals, sealing the victory for Heartland.
Coach Dogo expressed his frustration after the match, saying, “It was a very good game, and anyone who watched it will confirm it was of a high standard.” He continued, “Unfortunately, we’ve not been lucky in any game we’ve played this season. We’ve played well, but luck has not been on our side.”
Despite the loss, Dogo remains optimistic for future matches, saying, “Let’s pray that the ‘god of soccer’ will be with us in our subsequent games.”
The defeat leaves Nasarawa United at the bottom of the NPFL table. Their next match will be against Lobi Stars at the Lafia City Stadium on Sunday, as they aim to turn their fortunes around.
