President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Issa Hayatou, the former President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Hayatou, who passed away at 77 on Thursday, was also the acting President of FIFA, the global football governing body.
In a statement released by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), President Tinubu extended heartfelt condolences to Hayatou’s family. He also offered sympathy to the Cameroonian Football Federation, the people of Cameroon, and the entire African football community.
President Tinubu called Hayatou’s death a significant loss, highlighting his profound impact on the development of football in Africa and worldwide. He prayed for the eternal peace of Hayatou’s soul and strength for his grieving family during this challenging period.
